I refuse to submit to the belief that anyone is undeserving of love. I'm not ignorant of wrongdoing or fault - in fact, I embrace the inevitability of the imperfections we all display, however subtle. But I do not support a philosophy that holds that anyone who has failed is a failure. We are called to be truth-seekers and light-bringers. How can we do this if we exile those who are already estranged from love, or call them "less than?" Who are we to decide the fate of someone who is lost, or determine that they are a "lost cause," when we ourselves are still wandering? Truly, we never "arrive." And so we must enter in, with arms outstretched, welcoming the wounded and the afraid with a peace that envelopes all doubt. There is no room for hatred or persecution here. This air is inhospitable to fighting words and flying fists. We must fight injustice, not create it. We must fly flags of pride. We must stand together, welcoming the rising sun with open hearts, ears, and minds. Many things still remain to be done.
Love each other well. Because "love's never met a lost cause."
