Today (now-yesterday, I suppose) was very much a God Day. I call it that because it was so full of little blessings and simply joys that I cannot help but believe that God had a part in every single one o those things. (Maybe also because it was a Sunday, but we'll focus on the former for the purpose of this post.)
Mom, Daddy, and I went to Plymouth Covenant this morning to explore a different church. Entering in, I had my doubts. But truthfully, being there was like a breath of fresh air. Being in that different environment with all those new people - every one of them on absolute FIRE for the Lord - and being able to worship our God with them in that place so full of love you could almost taste it in the air… It was so profound and good. I left Plymouth Covenant feeling empowered and revived - my God-fire very much kindled. Blessing #1.
Then May and I went shopping. I ordered my Chambers shoes and got a couple new shirts at Target. We admired pretty things and sang along to Taylor Swift and talked about the things that you can't really talk about with just anyone. Laughing with her and trekking across parking lots between stores despite the heat and humidity. Blessing #2.
Home once more to change into my pretty, new clothes, and then off to our regularly scheduled church service. Abbey Way was Pizza in the Park tonight (Blessings #3 & 4), and with almost everyone gone celebrating the 4th at their respective cabins, the remaining 29 of us created a small, intimate setting that I truly enjoyed (Blessing #5). That intimacy was demonstrated in my conversations with Laura and Bob - in which I got to share my excitement for college and my journey ahead (Blessing #6). I love talking about college and my future. The light breeze that whispered through the park during church tumbled and tossed my hair, and Golden Hour sun made everyone angels (Blessings #7 & 8). The teal-tinted vintage Jeep presented the perfect Instagram photo op, and mom made our selfie her profile picture on Facebook (Blessings #9 & 10).
Re-connecting with Aaron after almost a year of disconnectedness has been proof that God really knows what He's doing, and that now is no time for doubting. Blessing #11.
At 8pm, I drove myself to Grace's, and we spent the evening watching The Proposal (Betty White will never die), eating miniature food, and doing fall dance season prep work. Even when we just sit together in silence, time spent with Gracegirl is my favorite. There's a reason why they're called best friends. Blessings #12-16.
I beat Ella home, so I was there to welcome her back from the cabin when her friends dropped her off. I thank God for keeping my baby sister safe this weekend, and I pray that the green goo Mom got from CVS really works it's magic on Ellabelle's sunburns. Sweet kid is as red as a tomato. But I'm so glad she's finally home. Blessing #17.
After putting my new clothes away and hugging ma familia goodnight, the rain makes its grand entrance with a crash of thunder and a bright bolt of lightning that splits the sky in two. My favorite kind of weather. And I smile as I recognize that this storm is God's way of wrapping up my truly beautiful day in some pretty paper and sticking a huge red bow on top.
Blessing #18.

Tonight I made a list of "all the good things." It only took me about three minutes to fill the page. Every little thought that popped into my head and brought me joy; I wrote it down. This list is a reminder for me. A reminder that the little things matter, too (and sometimes, they're even the best). A reminder that even on the darkest of days, little good things can be found sprinkled about: you only have to pause long enough to stop and recognize them for what they are. And if you stop and recognize enough of them, the bad that you were focused on before won't seem quite so bad anymore.
Choose to pause and see the good. Stop and recognize the happiness. The beauty. The joy. We always have a choice. Always choose joy.

PS. There are a LOT of other people and things that should - and will! - be on that list of good things. That page is the first of many to come. :)
