Just imagine yourself standing next to the ocean and gazing out at it and realizing how big and vast it is, and how deep it goes and how the blue of the water melts into the blue of the sky at the horizon line, so you can't tell what's up and what's down. Or imagine standing at the top of a mountain and looking down at the enormous expanse of fields and rolling hills below. Or imagine laying in one of those empty fields at night and staring up at the millions of stars suspended above you in the blackness. Those stars are ginormous luminous spheres of plasma (fiery gas) that are held together by their own gravity, which is totally cool and awe-inspiring and kind of insane, if you think about it too hard.
It's thinking about that kind of stuff that makes my insecurities and worries about my personal issues seem so incredibly small. Like how my butt looks in these jeans, or if my hair is doing something weird because I didn't straighten it today, or if my voice annoys people when I get excited about something and talk really really fast. Those things just suddenly seem so insignificant and stupid compared to all the real-world stuff that is happening all around me every single day.
It's good to put things in perspective once and a while. It's good to compare your little trifles to the stars, or the endless rolling fields of tall grasses from Sound of Music, or the deepest blue of the ocean, or the craters in the moon. It is when you contemplate these kinds of things that you will suddenly come to the realization that your butt is awesome (whether you do your squats every night or not), and its really okay to let your hair do whatever it wants for a day or two (because using heat on it every day is damaging anyway and can cause breakage and premature hair loss), and who cares what your voice sounds like when you get excited because if you're describing something that you're passionate about, your voice should change to reflect your inward passion on the outside, so that you can share it with the people around you.
You are you. The world is big. Take a step back, and just breathe. Things aren't nearly as bad as they seem.
